Shared responsibility penalties, measurement periods, and IRS reporting obligations all take effect this year, and each of these mandates create substantial compliance challenges for employers. Each challenge will also have a significant impact on health plan design and administration. It is essential that insurance producers understand what these ACA mandates require – as well as their real world impact – so that they can help their clients implement and plan. Producers also need to understand what their roles and responsibilities are when consulting with clients on ACA implementation and coverage options.
